Most men treat the thermal as a purely functional layer and never think about it again. That is a missed opportunity. A well made thermal t shirt is one of the hardest working pieces in a cold weather wardrobe, sitting under a flannel shirt, under a crewneck, or worn alone on days that are cold but not coat cold. The problem is that most of them are shapeless, pill after three washes, or have that waffle texture that looks cheap the moment you push a sleeve up. The ones we have pulled together here are different. The fabric has actual weight and recovery. The fit is close enough to layer properly without looking like base layer from a ski hire shop. A few of them are good enough to wear as a standalone piece with decent trousers and not feel like you have forgotten to finish getting dressed. Thermal does not have to mean an afterthought.
