Shirts Worth Unbuttoning

The open collar is one of the more underrated moves in men's dressing. Not the sloppy version where any old shirt gets the top two buttons undone and somehow looks unfinished. The considered version, where the shirt is actually designed to be worn that way, where the collar has enough structure to sit well without a tie holding it in place, and where the fabric rewards being seen up close. That is a very different thing. We have been looking specifically at shirts that earn the open collar: linens with the right weight for warm weather, cottons with interesting texture or a subtle print that does the talking, and cuts that work tucked or out without looking confused about what they are. Fit through the shoulders and chest matters more here than it does when a jacket is covering everything. These shirts are worth the attention. The unbuttoned look only works when the shirt itself is worth unbuttoning.
