The bomber has a credibility problem that it creates entirely for itself. Get the fit wrong and it reads as fancy dress. Get the fabric wrong and it looks like something from a petrol station forecourt. But a well made bomber in the right weight sits at that sweet spot between a heavy jacket and something you can actually move in, and it earns its place in a wardrobe faster than almost anything else at the same price point. We have been particularly interested in ones that work over a crew neck as easily as they work over a collar, because that versatility is what separates a bomber worth buying from one that only works in one very specific outfit. Silk and nylon for the dressed up end. Suede and washed cotton for something with a bit more wear to it. The silhouette should be clean without being tight. These are the ones that justify the wardrobe space and then some.
