A cap is one of the easiest ways to pull a casual outfit together and one of the easiest ways to ruin it. The wrong one, and everything beneath it suddenly looks less considered. The right one finishes things off without asking for attention. We’ve spent enough time in this territory to know that fit, fabric, and structure are what separate a cap worth wearing from one that ends up on a hook and never leaves the house.

We’ve been looking specifically at five panel and six panel cuts, structured fronts that hold their shape, and unstructured options that sit naturally without drooping. Wool blends for the colder months, washed cotton for the rest of the year. Colour matters too. A good navy, a proper off white, an earthy tone that works with most of what you already own.

These are not afterthoughts. A cap chosen well earns its place in a wardrobe the same way any other considered piece does.
