The problem with most recycled t shirts is that they solve one thing and break another. The environmental credentials are there on paper, but the fabric goes thin after six washes, the neck loses its shape by month two, and you end up with something that looks more charity shop than considered dressing. We've been through enough of them to know that the recycled label on its own means nothing. Most sustainable clothing wants a medal for existing.
