Vintage Watches That Don't Look Cheap

The vintage watch market is full of traps and most men walk straight into them. A dial that has aged badly, a case that has been overpolished until all the original character is gone, a movement that looks good in photos and stops working six months later. We have done a lot of the sorting so you do not have to. What we were looking for specifically were pieces that wear their age well, where the patina adds to the watch rather than excusing it, and where the movement has been properly serviced rather than optimistically ignored. Dress watches that work on a bare wrist on a Friday and under a shirt cuff on a Tuesday. Tool watches with enough history behind them to justify the worn edges. The name on the dial matters less to us than the overall integrity of the piece. These are vintage watches that hold up under close inspection, which is exactly where a watch gets looked at most.
